It must have been confusing for the two dogs to bond with their new handlers.

I thought my Ushi was stubborn, but Jetta sounds mad! Ushi is a very litteral dog and gets bored of her routes quickly. When she is bored, she will come to a dead stop! I remember how much i thought it was my fault when Ushi started to do this, but now i know it's just something that she will always do.

Ushi hates water too lol.

Take care, xxx.Toriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04233618320592371217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19662648.post-9706782889204740862011-07-11T22:27:59.397+01:002011-07-11T22:27:59.397+01:00Girl With a Cane: Thanks so much for stopping by. ...Girl With a Cane: Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you continue to enjoy my random ramblings. :)
L^2 You could be totally right-like I said, I really don't remember...but now that you mention it, I think you are right. LOL You were a great support and help to me too and the second time around, I found myself wishing you were there. We had great times; especially when we switched dogs and places at the dinner table. :) *hug*!
Jen: She is a fantastic dog. Not your typical "run of the mill" kind of gal. :) I had a few access issues-in Belgium they didn't want to let her on the pool deck for example-but traveling with team Canada really helped. The head coach and I may not have seen eye to eye, so to speak, but he never let me down when it came to defending Jetta's right to be present in public places. Our trip to Greece was interesting, but I always got her in: we were matched because we are both stubborn...or so that is what her trainer said. She sounds very independent!
That's cool you and L2 were in the same guide dog class. Also interesting that you travelled so much with her. Did you ever have any problems or access issues in different countries?Jenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10024951762128282021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19662648.post-39466374689339886922011-07-11T21:11:07.578+01:002011-07-11T21:11:07.578+01:00Happy (belated) Anniversary to you and Jetta! I...Happy (belated) Anniversary to you and Jetta! I'm happy to hear Jetta is doing well and enjoying her retirement.
I can't remember who got their dog first that day either. For some reason, I was thinking you got Jetta first, because I remember sitting on my bed across from you thinking to myself "If I also get a black Lab, like I asked for, then everyone will really think we are twins!". And I wondered afterward if they intentionally gave us different colored dogs to help them tell us apart. But they still mixed us up a lot, so I guess the different colored dogs didn't help them much.
And I totally remember Jetta ignoring you and staring at the door like she was waiting for Jorge to come back for her. It was both comical and sad at the same time. And I remember us joking that Jetta didn't love you because she wasn't crazy-affectionate like Miss Licky-Monster Willow. Now, of course, we know that Jetta really does love you; she just shows it in her own special way. :)
I'm also very glad we got to share the experience of getting our first guide dogs. I know it helped me a lot, especially on the rough days, to have a friend who understood what I was feeling, because you were right there going through it all too. *hugs*L^2https://www.blogger.com/profile/00116360024655645948noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19662648.post-60006226323141646002011-07-11T20:54:27.691+01:002011-07-11T20:54:27.691+01:00What a lovely tribute...Jetta sounds like a beauti...What a lovely tribute...Jetta sounds like a beautiful dog, with so much spirit.

This is my first visit to your blog.
